Projects

Africa & Beyond works to bring the Gospel into our communities.. We work at providing a holistic approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges, both spiritually and physically. Below you will find a short summary of projects we are currently working on and will, by faith, see them through to fruition. If you would like to know more about anything listed below, we invite you to email us directly at JLPeters@africa-and-beyond.net

Gitega, Burundi, Church/Community Center

Gitega is the second largest city in Burundi and is the political capital of the country. We have a church in the city on its own property. The facility is incomplete, although it is currently used for church meetings.

The current site (pictured below) will be finished and expanded to house not only the church and its activities but also a community center/school. There are several phases to this project. For more information on this project please email: JLPeters@africa-and-beyond.net

Lusaka, Zambia, Church Building

In 2001, we planted a church in Lusaka, Zambia. Not long after, in 2003, God blessed us with a piece of property where we built a "temporary" structure to house the church. To this day, it is in this structure the church has been meeting. We have begun to build a permanent structure (see below), the columns and roof have been set in place. The next step will be to pour the concrete slab followed by setting walls in place.

Academy of Leadership

As our churches grow and expand, we have come to the conclusion that we need to expand our leadership training capacity. In the very near future, we will be launching our first leadership academy to further prepare church leaders.

This academy will work with our own church leaders but also other church leaders within the nation. We will launch in Burundi but will expand to other nations where we are present.

To launch such an academy requires not only financial investment but also (more importantly) quality spiritual input. We are working with colleagues who are helping us bring this vision to fulfillment. Please pray for us as this piece of the puzzle is vital to the continued expansion of Africa & Beyond.

Lilongwe, Malawi, School Expansion

We currently have 7 churches in Malawi; our main campus is located in Lilongwe where we have had a primary school. Less than 2% of Malawi's population has finished secondary school. Education plays a vital role in the eradication of poverty.

Our school in Lilongwe (pictured below) is doing well, growing and is now in need of expanding. This year we have had to steer our students to other schools as we have not yet been able to expand. Our next step will be to build a 3 classroom block for our growing student body. Please connect with us at JLPeters@africa-and-beyond.net for more information.

Gatumba, Burundi, Hope Center Community Center & School

In February 2021, we began a feeding outreach in Gatumba, Burundi. Gatumba is an area that lies next to Burundi's border with DRC. It's residents suffer from intense poverty. With the advent of COVID and severe local floods, we have seen an alarming rise in hunger and malnutrition among the most vulnerable in the area. We feed 500 children, widows, elderly and handicapped at the site Monday - Friday. The center, at this time, has two projects we are working on:

1. The Hope Center currently needs to expand its kitchen and shelter for the people who come to eat on site. Currently, our seating capacity is meager, most attendees sit on reed mats on the ground.

2. Many of our children do not attend school due to financial restrictions. Our next step is to expand our outreach and begin a school to provide education especially for the children we cater to.
